If you love climbing you'll love Coal Canyon Trail. I don't love climbing, so gave it three stars. It's really a fire road, not a trail. Lovely views, especially when you get up high. Descending can be fun, but be careful of loose rock and wide ruts. Park on Green River at the entrance to the Santa Ana River Trail. Follow the river trail a short distance to a road on the left that goes under the freeway. The road to the right is Coal Canyon, to the left is Pipeline.
