This was an unforgettable trip - hiking, camping and ice climbing on a glacier! Don was excellent at hearing what we wanted to experience and delivering exactly that through top notch guides. I would never have thought i would climb a 70-foot wall of ice descending into a blue pool a day before I did it. Brett and Luke our guides were fantastic and the other guides who met us out on the glacier and set up our camp were phenomenal. We stayed at Alpen Glow following the trip to the glacier and had a hard time leaving! Luxury tents and a hot tub overlooking a glacier - not sure you can top that. Thank you so much!

Exposure Alaska has to be the best way to see and experience Alaska! Three of us – parent and two teenagers (boy, girl) – just completed the Matanuska Getaway, with an added second day on the glacier, for a total four-day adventure. With this added day, this also meant that Exposure Alaska arranged for an overnight camp on the glacier – that’s right, camping on the glacier. Nothing could be better to maximize your time exploring and climbing on this spectacular glacier. This four-day trip proved to be perfect for our group – both exciting and challenging. Day 1: After being picked up in Anchorage by Exposure Alaska guides we traveled to and the hiked to Reed Lakes. That night, we stayed at Alpenglow – great setting, great food, great company (and a great sleep!). Day 2: We had fun on zip lines – including an incredibly fast and long one – and then went white water rafting. The rafting was class 3/4 and was thrilling. Then, another relaxing dinner and night at Alpenglow. Day 3: Began the glacier part of the Getaway. We hiked out to the glacier, and then the guides worked with us to meet our interests. A party could focus on ice climbing, or on trekking across the glacier. We wanted some of both, and got just that. For the overnight, Exposure had a glacier camp set for us – campfire on the glacier, so what could beat that? Day 4: We woke to a great breakfast and more glacier trekking and ice climbing. Throughout, the Exposure guides were first rate. Exposure partners with MICA Guides, and you really get the best in the business. I recommend Exposure Alaska, especially for families such as mine looking for a real Alaska adventure.

Exposure Alaska is 5star in every way. From the beginning and throughout our trip, they tailored an experience that was perfect for your group. The overnight ice climbing experience, newly offered just this year, was magical. We hiked deep into Matanuska Glacier, departing from Alpenglow luxury camping, where we spent the evening the night before. We were provided with great quality climbing gear, and prior to our trip it was clear what we should bring to make the trip comfortable. Once we were deep into the glacier, we were taught the basics of ice climbing. We then climbed different lines the remainder of the day. Guides and interns had prepared a campsite on the Moraine rock on top of a flat spot of glacier. We had a warm meal, cozy campfire. The new morning breakfast and coffee were prepared, and we were ready to start ice climbing, already over 4 miles deep into the glacier! Day two our muscle memory really kicked in, and each of our groups members successfully climbed a 70 foot line out of a deep moulin with a blue pool at the bottom. The hike back later that day was bittersweet, as the time spent on the glacier was true magic. Once we arrived back at Alpenglow, a hot tub and cold beer was waiting for us to unwind and reflect, with a view looking out at the base of the glacier and mountains in the backdrop. Highly recommend!

Must do! Thank you Jesse and the crew for making this such a fabulous experience. Exciting and varied activities To experience the best of Alaska in 6/7 days. Everything worked seamlessly and food in the bush was beyond all expectations. The guides were fun, highly qualified and attentive. We highly recommend!

Amazing Experience! Some people see Alaska but with Exposure you really get to experience it. We did the double exposure tour and it was just challenging enough to push us but not overwhelming. The guides take care of everything so you still feel like you are on vacation and not trying to coordinate all the logistics of everything. They provide amazing food (they literally made blueberry walnut pancakes on a remote beach one morning). The experience at their base camp was amazing too (salmon dinners, hot tub, amazing views). I loved the kayaking and ice climbing. Who else can say they kayaked up to a glacier and went ice climbing on a glacier. For what you get to experience I think the pricing is great, I would not have done it any other way.
