Sky Trek is the best flight school in Anchorage. After going to a couple different flight schools in Anchorage with low time, inexperienced CFI's, I found Jamie and the team at Sky Trek to be very helpful. Both Jamie and Tom have a wealth of knowledge to spread to their students and there's a reason they do so well. Getting your license isn't easy but Jamie will teach you not to just pass but to become an amazing pilot. Jamie isn't there just to build hours and doesn't run students along with unnecessary flights and time you don't need. I really enjoyed learning to fly at Sky Trek.

The flying was a great experience. I just wish the instructor was more pleasant. A quick back story. I began flying 6 years ago, obtained my certificate then never had the resources to fly. I wanted to get back into it, and my girlfriend was awesome enough to buy me a gift certificate to skytrek. I also have the resources now and just needed a kick in the butt to get moving. After booking a date and having Jamie try to reschedule my flight, then not call me back, I was a little frustrated. Upon getting there I felt like I was an inconvenience. And I felt I was being judged for my career choices (a manager with Lowes), and just felt an overall criticism. The flight was beautiful. Afterwards though instead of recapping our flight and how we could proceed.. there was another student/friend/whatever there that she just started conversing with. She signed my log book and I left.. No idea where to go from here. I know not back there, and would not recommend.
After trying for a decade with multiple instructors I finally found Jamie at SkyTrek. She is an excellent and very knowledgeable instructor and I was able to solo and get my Private in a single summer.
