My 12-year-old daughter has been studying trombone with Dan just short of two years. We wanted to supplement our school band experience as well as get more in-depth help with technique. I knew Dan personally before starting lessons and knew was a precision player and incredible all-around musician he was, as well as an experienced performer and a fine person. I'd hear his fabulous tone and hoped my daughter could learn to do the same! She has been progressing extremely well under his teaching, and he has a passion for children as well as a commitment to high standards. He is patient yet pushes the student to achieve their best. My daughter started lessons about 3 months ago. Since that time, she has made tremendous progress with her skill level on the french horn. She looks forward to her lessons and is challenged by the music selected to work on. Dan's positive attitude and dedication is present throughout the sessions. I would highly recommend him for private lessons.
Dan is a fantastic teacher with so much knowledge. He taught me on drums for a few years and was very easy to get along with but also very intentional with his method of teaching. He is also a phenomenal instructor in all the brass instruments that he specializes in. If you are considering getting a teacher, you need to meet Dan in person to make the right decision! Our son has been taking lessons here for several years--well before Dan and Julie moved to Andover. As we haven't gone anywhere else for private horn lessons, we don't really have much to compare our experience with. But Dan has always been accommodating with lesson rescheduling, etc and has made a few recommendations to improve our son's performance.
