After reading so many negative reviews, I was a little hesitant to try and adopt from Animals Benefit Club. But, one of their sweet kitties caught my eye, and I decided to fill out an application. I was prepared to give him an AMAZING home! It has been two weeks since I submitted my application, and I've heard absolutely nothing from them. I called half a dozen times, left multiple messages, and sent a follow-up email asking when I could expect to hear back on the status of my application (regardless of the outcome). I know ABC is notorious for being extremely selective with who they allow to adopt. At this point, their animals are paying the price for this. I believe that any animal rescue who truly wants to see their pets adopted into loving homes would, one, be MUCH more responsive and better with communication, and, two, understand that even the most incredible adopter is not going to be 100% perfect. As I took a look at ABC's Facebook page, I realized that many of their cats and dogs have been stuck there for years. It breaks my heart knowing that these animals have to live their lives in a shelter when there are wonderful people out there trying to adopt them. I have since adopted a different rescue cat whom I love very much. It makes me SO sad knowing the sweet cat who I was hoping to adopt from ABC is still sitting in the shelter and probably will be for years to come. Someone needs to stop this organization from taking in more animals.

Like others, I certainly read some bad reviews before I submitted an application, but I fell in love with one of the cats on the website and decided it was worth the risk! To my delight, I received a call within 24 hours of emailing the questionnaire and was then asked some basic additional questions. I was able to schedule a visit to the shelter that upcoming weekend to see Jackson (aka Jude). While there, I was allowed to visit with other cats and filled in on details about their personalities. Volunteer Mary-Kaye has been there for years and she was amazing!! She was incredibly friendly and went out of her way to make adopting a positive experience. She even went above and beyond when Jackson was still having minor health issues to set up another vet visit post-adoption, which ABC covered. Her and the Director later came to my house to administer a final vaccine to Jackson. Finally, Jackson turned out to be super-clingy and really needed a friend (our dog was not particularly interested in being BFFs), so we ended up adopting one of Jackson's babies. We were able to keep Bella on a temporary trial basis at first to make sure the 3-pet household would work for everyone. It ended up being a great solution. I felt like they really cared about finding a good fit for both the owners and the animals. would definitely recommend adopting through Mary-Kaye at ABC!

I was browsing dog adoptions sites In late August looking for the perfect new companion. I came across ABC. I found a sweet girl named Ivy that seemed perfect for what I was looking for. I left 2 messages and 2 emails asking a few a few questions about her all within a 10 day period. No phone calls no emails. Terrible !! Seriously !! What a disservice to these sweet pups waiting to be adopted. I finally gave up and found and amazing Sweet boy from Maricopa animal control over Labor Day. This place should be shut down I feel sorry for these animals. And as of today Sept 30 Sweet ivy is still sitting and waiting for her forever home.

Non responsive to applications submitted via their website. Phone calls are not returned and they do not respond to e-mails. I attempted seven (7) times within a 10 days period to contact ABC and no response. I finally got a response with no apology, but emphasizing that the ABC is staffed with Volunteers and that they can't find my application. This is a poorly run and unprofessional organization.

The Staff and volunteers of ABC have been unwaveringly kind and helpful to me in the process of choosing my fur-ever friend; after months of searching the shelters, I saw my lovely Mindy and knew she was the one. Her owner passed suddenly, and her children could not take her; the shelter was already full, but they took her in anyways, and I am so lucky they did. These lovely people work tirelessly to find the right homes for all kinds of pets, including many with special needs or ailments. Many people will leave negative reviews here because they don't understand why they were not \approved\ for a specific pet; it took me months to be approved, but the process was worth it. Many of these animals need special attention, and need families who are 110% capable of giving them the medicine, time, and special vet appointments needed to live the best life possible. I trust their selection process, and I am so lucky to have adopted this sweet girl. Thank you, staff and volunteers of ABC for bringing us together; we are one big happy (and fur filled) home now!
