The two most awesome nature areas in the Ann Arbor area. Great foot trails, and fantastic greenhouses as well at Matthaei. Take a trip there some time! It should be noted that Nichols Arboretum is at a separate location from Matthaei Botanical Gardens. It has entrances from Geddes Road and from Washington Heights, and extends to the Huron River. From there you can take foot trails to beautiful Gallup Park, or to the U of M's athletic field complex near North Campus.

Beautiful garden and natural area in Ann Arbor. We took a very long walk along the lovely nature trails; through forests, by streams and lakes, really fun. It was a warm sunny fall day when we visited but there was plenty of shade along the trails. Impressive botanical garden inside too. Great place to spend a couple hours out in nature.

I'm writing during covid times. The gardens are closed. They still charge for parking. Minimum maintenance for the trails. I guess I would give it more stars during usuall times.

There are such pleasant trails to walk on at the Botanical Garden. Today my companion and I saw several deer near the trail and could observe then close up. In warm weather there is often a Great Blue Heron in the small pond.

Great experience here. The greenhouse and gardens outside are very well taken care of. A very large variety of plants that most people will not have seen before. It's especially beautiful on a sunny day! Great place for pictures as well.
