This is my favorite Record store on Haight! They always have all the classic rock lp's I could ever want :p. Prices are fair but don't expect to find an original Hound dog 45 for 5 bucks! They do know what they have. MUSIC FANS STOP BY AMOEBA MUSIC!

IMO the staff there is pretty rude, they don't like to talk to you much, and are quite cliquey lol. so lose a star for that but like everyone else I'm astounded at the music selection here. I've even found random-arse CD's that I haven't seen/thought about in years and was like "Oh, I remember this CD!!! I must rebuy it! Especially at that price!!!"
Left the same review for the Hollywood location. Although the one in SF is a lil bit smaller, i.e. less selection, the shopping experience is for the most part JUST as satisfying.
If there ever was a place that would carry music that is hard to find. Amoeba Music is that place. I found many Celtic cds to choose from and it was my kind of style. I bought Moya Brennan for about 6.00...being used is ok too...for Amoeba Music sells both new releases and used cds and dvds and others for the liking. Though it is tucked in on a road that leads to the main road... It was not hard to find...Amoeba Music is a big and spacious place for a music store....
Once doesn't really "visit" Amoeba so much as they enter the musical labyrinth of King Midas and try to find their way out. Maybe that isn't fair - Midas' labyrinth was punishment; Amoeba is a place I'd love to stay for days and days.
