Seeing the wild horses was an amazing experience and you can camp there and rent kayaks and get in the bay. It's 25 to get thru but it's a 7 day pass

AMAZING! We did the wildlife kayak tour in late June 2020. Our tour guide was excellent. I just wish I remembered her name! We were her 3rd tour overall & this is her first summer doing it. She graduated college to do this kind of thing. Her major was something like environmental science. She was very knowledgeable & also quick to admit if she didn't know something. She had some fun facts too! I highly recommend bringing the items they list on their site like sunscreen, water, extra layer of clothes. The sun really beats down on you. The tour was based on the wildlife but they also try to show you horses. We were lucky enough to see a few.
We rented kayaks and stand up paddle boards yesterday and were very pleased with the service provided to us during these times. Social distancing was practiced, we could see employees cleaning equipment after use, and the location is perfect. The water is very calm, and only 2-5 feet deep in most spots. They have plenty of water and marshes to explore, and we even saw a few horses on the shore as we paddled by. Highly recommend checking out Assateague Outfitters for a good time on the water. Extra points to Zach for teaching us how to use the paddle boards before sending us off!
Two tandem kayaks were perfect for our family with two little ones (ages 3 and 5). We rented them during the COVID madness and were so pleased to find a social distance activity (as much as that's possible). The Outfitter team was thorough in taking precautions from cleaning equipment to having social distancing measures in place. Highly recommend!
We had a WONDERFUL time on this wildlife tour in early August!! Our guide, Meg, was enthusiastic, knowledgable and made this adventure great fun for everyone in our group. She was also very patient and helpful when one group of paddlers, who wasn't as experienced, needed her assistance with their kayak. She showed us lots of wildlife and shared interesting information along the way. We stopped for several special wildlife activities, which gave us a break from paddling. What a GREAT way to spend 2.5 hours for anyone who loves being on the water, kayaking....and wildlife! Experience handling a kayak sure helped but isn't mandatory. This website provides lots of suggestions about what to bring....and they were spot on! Be sure to read those carefully before you go. Watershoes made exploring the marshland coast much more comfortable on our feet as there were lots of shells. Bring plenty to drink, too. There is a place to put a small cooler and there are even cup holders in the kayak! By the way, this was during the Covid 19 outbreak and we were pleased to see that they were sanitizing the paddles after each was used. I will definitely be recommending this activity to friends in the area! If you are not interested in the tour, you can still rent kayaks there.
The tour blended history and the ecosystem/environment very nicely. It was a nice comfortable tour and kayaking was easy to pick up. Great tour guide and info, a really nice way to spend some time within the island.
Had a great time on the wildlife kayak tour! Our guide Nate was very informative on the local wildlife. He even showed us a great spot to catch clams. We had them for dinner.
Great spot to rent kayaks for 2 hours or longer. Lots to explore on the Bay side. Great experience overall. Highly recommend. You do need to book online, even if you didn't ahead of time. We book while in line and it worked well.
