We were able to book the last 2 cottages available the Thursday and Friday of Labor Day weekend this year and we had a great experience. First of all, Cindy at Castaways was great-very helpful and friendly. Our cottages, #3 and #13, were clean and spacious, the beds were comfortable (and this is coming from a girl who shared a full size bed at the cottage, but normally sleeps in a king size with a memory foam topper), the full kitchen was nice, we loved having a porch, and it was also nice to have access to a washer and dryer for longer stays/emergencies. The location was a positive, too. The Blackwater Inn was literally next door and even though there was no live music due to the COVID pandemic our dinner both nights was delicious and it was nice having a view of the St John's River while we ate. We also rented a pontoon boat from Castaways to take to Silver Glen Springs for one day and that was the highlight of our trip-the wind over the water made the 100 degree weather bearable and the spring water was so refreshing, plus we got to snorkel with a school of striped bass and saw a manatee. I would highly recommend Castaways on the River for a family trip, friends trip, or even a romantic getaway.

Great place. Clean well stocked cottages. Dock to feed the many turtles, firepit for hanging out and grills if you don't want to be stuck inside cooking. Manatee sighting @ the boat dock and plenty of springs nearby.
How do you want to spend quality family time. Thanks to Ms. SARAH we were so well taken care of. Enjoyed our time. Boat rentals were the best. Special shout out to our friends at the rental. They took cmgreat care of us.
They need a pool at cast aways. I only say that because I love it so much there I would stay forever if there was a pool. I LOVE LOVE LOVE castaways. They are extremely hospitable and their boats are great. Also you're right...Nothing better than the Glen. I only mean that I would stay much much longer if there was a pool on the premises. I love Castaways I do
Totally recommend this place. Had a short 3 day visit, rented a pontoon boat and everything was fantastic. Debra was great, answering all my questions and recommended our cottage. She was right on point...the cottage was perfect and so clean. Well stocked too. Boat was fun and they give great info on where and how to go. I will definitely plan more visits!!!
