The garlic soup here is just perfect. It has an egg yolk floating in it with melted cheese, and I still dream about it months later.

This place is amazing! The food is fantastic and very reasonable price! The tripe soup is so delicious. Pork Schnitzel is very flavorful. The food portion is quite big, good size to share. The boiled or grilled sausage is A Must! They accept card(no amex) but tips cash only.

There was a man that kept coming and trying to take our food and we had to keep telling him we were not done.....like it was really obvious we were not. It made us feel really unwanted.

Great place for food that otherwise you cant really try in NYC. Traditional plates, and spot on flavors (words from my Slovak gf!). Good portion, reasonable price, and good location away from the main ave. The interior is very folky, and the outside seats and furniture give the sense of being in a small village, from central Europe.

Delicious Czech food and real czech beer. While you there don't forget to try traditional czech liquor Becherovka.

I have visited this place for the first time. I am quite familiar with european food, but let's say I've been expected more from this czechoslovakian restauran. That being said, the food could be made more in a homemade style. The taste of food is ok, but it's not spectacular. We were told that the sauerkraut is homemade, but it is not. It was too sweet. The meat is an average, but knedliky and potato dumplings are quite good. I would probably order again only these two. If I have to say, my biggest surprise was the beer: draft czech beer (large 7, small 5). Perfect, fresh dark and light czech beer was the best part of our evening. Food wasn't the star of the night. In addition, me and my friends were asked to leave the restaurant after 2 hours, while we were still drinking our beer. That wasn't nice at all. However, I will probably give an another chance to Koliba.

I hate to give it one star, I really wanted to give a five star review but the owner/ manager whoever the older blonde lady was, made me do it. So here's my little story...I'm from Slovakia so I was really excited about the food and I decided to bring my friend along, who's first time was gonna be to try my country's food. The waitress was nice, the food was excellent, tasted just like home. Then the owner came up to our table to ask us if we were leaving because someone else had a 6PM reservation. Mind you, that the owner was sitting next to us with her friends. Why didn't she get up then and gave her table to the 6PM reservation? Why didn't she ask others to hurry up and leave? What kind of customer service is that? Never returning again, and will not recommend anyone else either. It's sad because not too many places like this that offers Slovak/ Czech food. Today (8/29/2020) the owner decided to approach me on Facebook. According to her, 3 hours are enough to enjoy a meal, so anyone who plans to be there longer than that, be aware. She might kick you out too. It's funny how she never mentioned that she couldn't get up from the table to give it to next customer. Shame on her, such shame. I will definitely not be back!
