[email protected] The Athens Youth Organization (AYO) Lions is a football and cheerleading organization that's committed to serving youth ages 4 to 14. The game of football and the sport of cheerleading are essential components to building a community of young people who are developed into leaders and responsible citizens. Here at AYO, we help guide the transformation of the lives of the youth within our program. As a result of the AYO football and cheerleading program, we are able to develop between 125 and 150 young men and women year-round, by taking an active role in their lives and teaching them the principles of discipline, respect, teamwork, leadership, pride, and dedication; principles that will serve them well throughout their matriculation in life. We strongly believe in the importance of providing a positive environment for our players, cheerleaders, families, friends, supporters, coaches and board members. It is our belief that we can achieve more together as a functional unit then we could ever imagine achieving as individual parts. Each youth within our program is treated fairly and provided with the opportunity to play, without being concerned that a coach is playing favorites. Our coaches are well-trained in the X's & O's, so you can be assured that your child will be well-coached. The coaching staff is also well-trained in the area of player safety, as each coach is required to pass the USA Heads Up Football certification course. If there are any questions regarding our player safety program, contact our Player Safety Coach, Coach Cortez at (706) 372-1308 or via e-mail at
