I absolutely love Dean Rusk Academy! All the staff that I have encountered are welcoming, loving, helpful and professional!! I love love love my daughters teachers! Ms. Tameka and Mr. Tye are awesome teachers! I see 1st hand that my daughter is learning at this school. Ms. Macon and Ms. Western are sooo nice and helpful. The 2 of them along with her teachers, really worked to help my daughter make a smooth transition from daycare to headstart and I am forever greatful for that They are always working to have parent workshops and other activites to keep parents abreast and involved in all aspects of their child(ren) learning. Even the afterschool care staff are phenomenal! Always professional, caring and they treat u like family! All they ask is that u pick your child up by the designated end time of after-care which is 5:30. It would make sense to pick up your child by this time being that it's free your kid(s) have already been in school alllll dayyy long. I have and will continue to support and recommend this academy!!
PLEASE BE AWARE ... DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN TO THIS SCHOOL... THEY ARE LOOKING FOR FAMILIES TO BRING THEIR CHILDREN JUST TO MAINTAIN GOVERNMENT FUNDING. ALSO THEIR AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM IS NOT DESIGN FOR REAL LIFE WORKING PARENTS. IF YOU ARE ONE MINUTE LATE THE DIRECTOR MS. EDITH JOHNSON WILL THREATEN YOU BY SAYING SHE WILL CALL CHILDREN SERVICES. THIS IS INAPPROPRIATE AND DISHEARTENING. AFTER THE SCHOOL YEAR IS OVER WE WILL NO LONGER BE APART OF THIS MESS. THE DIRECTOR OF THIS LOCATION MS.MACON IS NOT ADEQUATE TO RUN THIS CENTER DUE TO THE LACK OF SENSITIVITY AND PROFESSIONALISM IN HANDLING THESE SERIOUS ISSUES. HOWEVER IF YOU DO HAVE TO ATTEND THIS LOCATION PLS REQUEST TO BE IN MS. FLETCHER AND MR. STRICKLAND CLASS. THEY ARE PASSIONATE TEACHERS WHO REALLY ENJOY THEIR CAREERS. BE WEARY OF THE EARLY AM DROP OFF, THE TEACHERS EXCEPT FOR MS. JOHNSON WHO IS VERY KIND AND SENSITIVE TO THE CHILDREN... ALL THE OTHER TEACHERS ACT LIKE THEY WERE FORCED TO BE HERE AND CANT EVEN INTERACT WITH THE PARENTS OR THE CHILDREN WHEN THE CHILD IS CLEARLY NOT HAVING A GOOD MORNING AND THE PARENT’S ARE TRYING TO CALM THEIR KID DOWN TO LEAVE FOR WORK. I DONT HAVE THE TIME OR THE ENERGY TO WRITE REVIEWS, HOWEVER TODAY I DID AND HOPEFULLY THIS WOULD MAKE SOMEONE’S DECISION AN EASY ONE.... #survivingdeanrusk
I sent 3 of my kids here, they are all excellent academic achievers. It is totally free. They have great resources for parent and student alike.
Not satisfied at all. You pay for what you get in this case. Some of the staff was rude and not friendly at all. I only allowed my 2 year old daughter to stay there for maybe 3 months. I feel like she was not thriving at this school. The staff was not very supportive in her learning and development. Overall I would not recommend this school at this point. Maybe if she was older or if the staff had a little more compassion and training.
