Georgia's Department of Insurance, as it stands today, is not an asset to taxpayers - it is a liability. As a public adjuster who has overseen close to 20 consumer complaints with the Department of Insurance against insurance companies, I confirm the accuracy of the other complaints posted here. The Department lets insurers get away with murder, supported by the fact that I have gone on to recover hundreds of thousands of dollars for my clients on files that the Department's negligent investigations have produced zero results. I have sat in depositions where insurers and their counsel, empowered by the Department's inaction, have verbally undermined the Commissioner's very authority and credibility. As for licensing, I also agree with the other complaints here. Professional licenses are treated as hobbyist licenses, as my renewal was requested close to a month ago and I can't even get a returned phone call or email. This Department is sleeping on the job in every way that I could possibly describe, and I call on Commissioner King as the new sheriff in town to clean it up and demand results of his staff that favor consumers and penalize insurers who underpay claims. Enough is enough.

Terrible organization, does not have consumers' interest in mind.

Horrible. Waited 10 weeks for a license. Had I not gotten my elected officials involved, it would have never come. Anyone, if this office makes your life miserable, contact your state senator and representative.

There are some nasty reviews here, but I have not had a bad experience. I've made a few calls as a resident Life and Health agent and have been greeted each time by helpful representatives who worked with me to straighten my situation. I suspect that the people giving 1-star are upset about there own insurance rates and nothing more. Or, they are having a hard time working with office representatives because they are not asking the right questions, or asking someone at the Commissioner's Office to do something outside of his lines of authority. If you really need someone who will be able to help you with your questions, call and ask for Vanessa. She has been more than helpful.

I've been waiting for 6 weeks for my temporary license to come through. I am living off of my credit card and will have to ask my family for money in order to pay rent this month. Thank you DOI. The representative who spoke to me did not care about my situation and was clearly reading from a script. You are ruining people's livelihoods. I do not know what to do.
