I am a parent of a freshman. The Spelman administration does a terrible job in completing students’ records and getting students paperwork together in an efficient manner. My daughter sent her transcripts multiple times when she would follow up she was given multiple contacts which none of them were helpful or at least remove the transcript hold so she could register. She has been giving the run around because the people in the office punts responsibility in doing their job. I wish I could blame it on COVID however after my daughter has talked to upper class students this is how the school operates. Spelman’s bloated, inefficient administration. With such a small student body, high tuition and massive endowments one would think Spelman wouldn’t have such issues

Visiting Spelman 4 years ago with a group of elementary school young girls was such a rewarding experience. We even ran into a former student who took the exact tour we were on with the same teacher. It was because of that tour she decided to attend Spelman.

Wonderful place for smart Black girls to become powerful Black women. Spelman has a history of choosing top candidates for admission; I’m not sure of the current acceptance rate, but it’s an elite institution. Of course Spelman is a college, but its’ niche goes beyond high-level academics. The experience at Spelman is steeped in excellence, pride, and sisterhood. Any woman who graduates has the tools to make a profound impact in her community.
