The folks at 1836 have been a pleasure to work with. They were able to screen multiple prospective tenants and get a lease signed with a qualified applicant in like a week, which is remarkable! Their property preparation standards are also very high which I think translates into many more showings. They know what they're doing. I was initially referred to the company by a coworker who praised Erica and Christina. I was happy when I got them assigned a few weeks before my previous tenants were going to move out. Erica was super responsive and straightforward at all times. She made arrangements to have the property inspected, fixed and cleaned up fairly quickly. The vendors they use are also quite diligent. I remember one of the vendors came on a Sunday to assess the state of the landscaping for property preparedness. The photos they took were also outstanding. Made me fall in love with my property again. I look forward to the continued partnership with 1836.

If you're renting a place in Austin, look elsewhere. Addendum to respond to comment from owner: the staff haven't been working with us at all over the past few weeks, in fact we haven't heard from them since we sent in our certified letter , except for when I've emailed asking for updates. Then, we got a \we're working on it\ response only. 1836 is the place to rent from if you want to be treated this way while living in an old home that is, at times, quite literally falling apart (a leak in my closet that filled my closet with water every single time it rained and took weeks for them to fix, for example). I can assure you, readers of this Google review, that our claims are accurate. Another addendum: If you look, you'll see the high reviews are from people BUYING a home or using 1836 to manage the home they own. The negative reviews are from the tenants — the people actually living in the homes. This review is also for tenants — be warned. They don't care about you, they care about your money. My final reply: That was, essentially, a nonsense reply from the owner. After acknowledging that we WERE correct about or security deposit disputes, 1836 continues condescend to us and will not provide an itemized list by cost for the deposit because their vendor \doesn't do that.\ Well, that is required by Texas tenant law. My advice to people considering this shady company: don't. And if you do? Don't let them get away with what they've been pulling on countless other tenants.
