Dr Alka Mallik is my mother’s oncologist. My mom has multiple myeloma and had received an autologous stem cell transplant in June 2019. Dr Mallik has been administering maintenance chemotherapy since the transplant while also acting has her PCP for all practical purposes. She has great bedside manners, is efficient and compassionate, and inspires her staff to also be the same way. My dad, who is my mom’s primary caretaker, is hard of hearing and has some difficulty conversing in English. However, Dr Mallik ensures that my parents leave satisfied after every visit. Mom is indeed fortunate to have her as her doctor and oncologist, and we are grateful to Dr Mallik and her staff for all that they do at Austin Cancer Centers.
