I took the train from Austin to Dallas a few days ago and it was a fun experience. It was the longest train ride I've been on (6 hours each way) and my first Amtrak ride. The station itself is fine and the employees are nice. On my return to Austin, the train lost power in Taylor so there was no AC the remainder of my trip and I'm not sure if it was fixed after I got off. I also wish that Texas Eagle would run more routes, but overall I enjoyed it. Definitely worth trying out.

Typical American railway station. There are many things wrong with American rail stations that are reflected in this one, little to no station amenities, only 2 trains a day, just to name a few. This station does have more than other Amtrak stations that I’ve visited, for example, it has real time displays to indicate weather the 2 trains a day are running on time or not. Another thing that is disappointing about this station is that it’s not in a central part of downtown Austin making it harder to get to than normal stations (like the cap metro downtown station).

It is a nice station to go to.it is generally clean, it is close to downtown, and has a nearby bus stop to go to. I go here often and don't have any issue in the waiting area.
