Just got released after a week long stay at Austin Oaks and had a great experience. I’m 16 and was admitted for a suicide attempt and was giving so much support, wether it be with staff members or other patients. I made some great friends that helped me with my journey. My therapist was awesome and made sure to make me feel as comfortable as possible going home. 10/10 recommend sending yourself or loved one here!

No place is perfect, but 2.5 stars? Come on! They pour their hearts out and act in compete professionalism. I think we're too ready to be negative. I wish no one had to deal with mental health issues, but I'm very thankful and glad Austin Oaks was there for a traumatic time in our lives. Unlike some other places around Austin, they treat the family with respect and as part of the healing process.

When I was admitted, they had me put my jewelry and phone in a bag. The next day, they have me sign a separate bag and on the inventory and I noticed it had only my phone, and a charger (which was in a separate bag). I asked about it, they said “we will figure it out” well, I’m pretty certain a staff stole my jewelry. I had a beautiful 925 sterling silver necklace along with a separate sterling silver cross charm. I also had pure gold earrings as I am allergic to fake jewelry. My grandmother who is now deceased have me the necklace and my aunt gave me the earrings. Its pretty unfortunate that I went there for help, just to get my precious jewelry taken from me. I’m pretty certain it was a particular very unprofessional staff who took it from my bag. I’m upset about how they are going about this. They are having me look for “similar” jewelry. I’ve searched for two almost three hours for jewelry that looks similar to mine. I can’t find anything similar to my necklace and it’s frustrating I have to suffer the consequences of getting my belongings taken from me. No jewelry even of the finest golds are as appealing as my personal necklace. Moral of the story, I wouldn’t trust them with your personal belongings and if you ever consider taking your child there, please take their important items home. I hope this never happens to another person that goes to Austin Oaks.

I was admitted under involuntary status, in October. This establishment was unclean, and unclear. Even during a pandemic I had to ask for a mask for 3 days before I was given one. Even after given direct orders from the doctor I was never given my phone to call my work and let them know where I was. The only good thing about this place was the other patients, who helped me more than the staff. There were only 2 nurses who helped me. I was also hit with a 4k medical bill and when I called to ask about my bill, I have been redirected in circles, with no clear answer on my medical charges. This place is a absolute money grab.
