I moved to Austin during summer 2020 and wanted to get my daughters into a sport that’ll help em out, and have made a family from the team members there. My daughters enjoy going and I get mad when I miss a class From a training standpoint, everybody on the team is helpful and fun to be around. Like I said, I don’t like to miss because of this. There’s growth with each session for sure!

Friend of mine (who's a blue belt) recommended that I give BJJ a try, and stressed that it be with Gracie Barra. Attended the free intro class at the North Austin location, and enjoyed it so much I joined right after! Everyone has been friendly and welcoming... the instructors are great; they go over the techniques in a clear manner, and are very helpful during practice with comments and guidance. It's amazing... the other more advanced students often provide advice and constructive criticism, taking the time to help during training. Very supportive atmosphere! Highly recommend! Give the free intro class a try... and be ready for a workout!

Starting training here was one of the best decisions of my life! When I first walked in I felt comfortable, and this school is welcoming to any type of student regardless of gender, athletic ability, previous experience, etc. Each of the coaches truly care about student learning, and classes are well balanced between warmups, technique, and sparring. Walking in the door for the first time was the hardest step, but I just wouldn't be the same person without doing it. I couldn't recommend Gracie Barra North Austin enough!

GB North Austin is a terrific place to train and learn BJJ. The community at this school is extremely welcoming. Walking through the door the first time is very intimidating but all reservations one might have are quickly wiped away by a great group of people. Professor Ricardo and his coaches truly care about every members progress and well being, both inside and outside of training. I originally planned to visit multiple schools before committing to one but after one class here I decided this was the school for me. Over a year later I have not second guessed that decision once. I look forward to coming to class everyday.

My daughter and I have been training at this school since December of 2019. We loved the time we had pre-pandemic shutdowns. Since the school reopened in May they have been very respectful of people's personal preferences and boundaries for this whole pandemic situation. I really enjoy the community of people that I train with. I primarily attend their noon classes on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday and it's a great time. I even moved to Leander back in June and I still choose to commute 35 minutes down to this school even though there is a closer one (7 minutes away) to me because I enjoy the community at this school. The people are great, they are helpful, they push you when you need it, and they encourage you to constantly strive to get better. The professor is very friendly and has a heart for his student's well being. The kids program has changed since coming back from the pandemic, but I actually prefer the new setup contrasted with the old method. The kids classes are smaller and more hands on with the professor and assistant coaches. It's a good blend of letting the kids have fun doing Jiu-Jitsu while still having disciplined activities throughout the training.
