I was in Austin for a month and needed acupuncture. I went to Sage acupuncture first which is wonderful, but was so happy when I met Chia at a medical clinic in town where she occasionally volunteers. I've had acupuncture over the years at many different clinics... here's a few reasons why Chia gets 5 stars. What was really fascinating was that even before reviewing my intake or talking to me about my concerns, she knew exactly what was going on with me by looking at my hands, tongue, and taking my pulse - I was so surprised when she got it right. I've had acupuncture several times, and have never had anyone do this before ! Not sure where she was trained, but this was downright fascinating. - True to eastern medicine at its best, she doesn't just do acupuncture, she examines the body holistically and tries to understand the root cause of an issue going on, and address the body as a whole. - At every session, she never rushed our conversations before acupuncture, and answered all of my questions - Chinese medicine focuses a lot on the strength of one's organs based on inherited dispositions - she gave me very important recommendations including herbs and food (she never tried to sell me anything, there is not retail at this clinic) - She gives you a button to press when needles are in, which she will hear and respond to if you are uncomfortable - She is very mindful of your tolerance for needles, responsive to your needs, and willing to/ has the skill to give you a little more pressure if you can tolerate it (I've had some clinics where the needles were in so light that it felt like I wasn't even being treated). Chia and the other woman in her clinic are sincere, kind, smart, and so committed to healing people. A true talent and skilled professional practitioner. Sad to be leaving Austin, it's going to be hard to find someone like her again. Thank you !!!
