First and foremost--Don't confuse Northwest Austin Veterinary Center with Northwest Veterinary Hospital. (Some of the poor reviews seem to be related to another business--NOT Northwest Austin Veterinary Center on Jollyville Road!) Dr. Weaver has cared for my fur babies for more than 15 years; like another review indicates--I, too, would follow him to the end of the earth! We've experienced nothing but professional, compassionate and informative care from Dr. Weaver and most recently, Dr. Chang. Dr. Boyd is one of the most caring individuals I know and also caries my full faith in the care he provides. Although I've no personal experience with Dr. Walden--I'm certain his care and attention has to be on par with Dr. Weaver, Dr. Chang, and Dr. Boyd!

Drs. Simmons and Weaver are so thoughtful when examining pets. They are mindful of budgeting concerns without failing to think of the best ways to treat our furry family.

Great service all around. Dr. Walden, and the staff as a whole, has been awesome! I had couple quotes for a teeth cleaning and a couple extractions for my Chihuahua from when I lived in California which were from 1,300 - 1,400. NW Austin Veterinary performed the service for 300. Dr. Walden has been great about returning phone calls and is nothing but friendly and professional. The staff even remembers my dog's name when we come into the clinic. I highly recommend them to anyone with a furry family member.

For nearly 10 years I have been taking my dog to a local Austin Vet. Recently he needed some surgery to remove a growth from his chest. The price they quoted me was breathtaking. As well, they gave me exactly zero indication, or even a guess as to what it might be. I bring this up because, if it were cancerous, I would have chosen to leave it. My dog is too old. In any case, a friend mentioned that they had heard similar stores about that vet, that they had been raising their prices over the years with unnecessary surcharges. They suggested Dr. Weaver. I took my dog into see him and while he couldn't conclusively identify the mass, he did offer his opinion. He ran through my options and said that he could take some cells out if I wanted and send them for analysis. But that realistically it would be throwing money away since cells are rarely conclusive. His suggestion, without being pushy, was to simply have the procedure done. That even if it were minor now it would only get worse and I'd have to do it eventually. He ran me through the treatment plan which was significantly cheaper than I had originally been quoted. He even forewent the office visit figuring it was like a \Free estimate\. I scheduled my dog for about a week later. He was in the hospital most of the day, Dr. Weaver was able to forego stitches so I don't even have to take him back to get them removed. I couldn't be happier with Dr. Weaver or the care provided by NW Austin Veterinary Center and I'll be taking both of my dogs there from here on out.

Friendly reception staff that come out and say hi to my dogs when time permits. Patient on the phone when asking questions and making appointments. Vet techs are great; friendly and you can tell they like animals. Quick refills. Kennel staff is friendly and prompt. Dr. Dunn took care of my kitty (RIP) and takes care of our dogs. She is honest, thorough, patient and cautious. I never feel rushed in person or when she calls to check up. We recently adopted a second dog from a shelter. After eight days with us a lump mysteriously appeared which turned out to be a mast cell tumor. Dr. Dunn asked us to come back in before she would agree to the surgery. The location was not great; it was on the dogs chest near the shoulder. I appreciate that she put my dog first and was thoughtful in her consideration for performing the surgery. She could have referred us to a specialist and it would have cost double but either way we wanted to give this guy a chance. When Dr. Dunn said she would do the surgery she made it happen the same day. I had every confidence in her abilities. Surgery went well and results were excellent. Dr. Dunn got clean margins on the tumor removal which is so important. Last week we planned to be out of town. It was also time for suture removal so we boarded him with NW Austin. Everything was healing nicely (and still is) Staff and Dr. Dunn took great care of him but unfortunately she had to visit him on HER DAY OFF. Turns out he is a houdini with an e-collar. I never felt pressured to buy medicine, tests or other services.
