My son started Northwest Montessori when he was 20 months old. It has been the best decision we have made. We credit the teachers and administrators for helping him grow into a curious, thoughtful and fun-loving toddler. I would highly recommend this school to other parents.

My oldest (now 3.5) has been at Northwest Montessori for 2 full years now, and it's a WONDERFUL place. She has thrived in every sense of the word since her arrival here. As we have now moved through different classrooms as she has aged, I can say from experience that the school is uniformly excellent. As soon as my youngest is old enough, she'll be at Northwest Montessori, too!

Because of Northwest Montessori, our soon-to-be kindergartener has grown to LOVE school. When we received information about what is expected of incoming kindergarten students at her new elementary school, we were so pleasantly surprised to realize that she covered almost all of those skills as a three year old at Northwest Montessori. She has now moved far beyond those basic kindergarten expectations. She's reading books, writing short stories, doing fractions, can name all fifty states and their capitals, knows all 45 U.S. presidents in order, and has a grasp of world geography. Recently, she pointed at an incline ramp and said, \An inclined plane in an example of a simple machine.\ Last night she taught us all about the kookaburra! We did a lot of research to find the right school for our kids. No other school we looked at came close to having the ratios this school maintains. Some of the other schools claimed to follow the state required guidelines, but in practice, we learned that they stretched their teachers very thin and often only met those guidelines during pick-ups, drop-offs, and tours. I have always been impressed with the number of eyes on our children at any time of the day. There are always more than enough teachers to provide the kind of nurturing and supervision kids this age need. I have also been so impressed with the ways in which the teachers and administrators at this school seem to support one another and appear to have strong cooperative relationships with each other. We could not be happier with Northwest Montessori. Our kids have been loved and nurtured and have grown so much over the past 4 years. Northwest Montessori has a wonderful group of teachers throughout the school who communicate well, seem to be naturally gifted in their work with children and know how to engage kids to want to learn.

My 4 1/2 year old started at Northwest Montessori at 2 and every class he has been in and every teacher has been wonderful. He not only knows what you would expect from a preschool environment, how to write his name, recognizing letters and numbers, etc. but he also knows the oceans, the continents, what foods are eaten in China, the stages of matter, how to work out disagreements, how to work in a team environment and so much more. The school focuses on where your child is at and helps them to advance socially, emotionally, academically and physically. Highly recommend the school.

I rely heavily on reviews, and always appreciate the ones that have the pertinent details people are looking for. So, here's my contribution to the online community. I have 2 children enrolled, ages 3 and 5. Both attended starting at the age or 2. Each class has one lead teacher and 2 assistants. There's an excellent mix of learning and play. My child turned 5 in July, and she is able to read and write simple books completely on her own, and more difficult ones with occasional assistance. She is currently learning simple addition and subtraction. Apparently, but the time she's done with kindergarten, she should be able to do simple fractions. They are able to present it in a fun way, b/c she comes home eager to show me what she's learned. The teachers are warm, friendly and affectionate with the children. They are always open to taking time and discussing any concerns with the parents. We are always sad when they move on to the next class up b/c their teacher was so wonderful, but then quickly learn that the next one is fantastic as well. The only minor negative is the occasional TV time. I appreciate the wide diversity among the students, parents and staff, if that is of interest to prospective families. They also offer classes during daytime hours, making it easier on working parents to expose their children to more activities such as foreign language (Spanish and Chinese), dance, gymnastics, computer.
