We needed a place close to campus for our daughter to live after moving out of her dorm. REspace found a great apartment for her, as well as her 3 roommates, making the process much easier on us. We really appreciate the effort made to find a nice location within our budget, as well as their responsiveness to our questions and needs.
I only lived at a Respace property for 6 months (sublease) and they still managed to show me how little they think of their tenants. One of my roommates had a broken window in her bedroom the entire 12 months she lived there after repeatedly contacting Respace about fixing it. This was a threat to our safety and they continued to skirt the responsibility of fixing it. They also charged us 130 out of the blue for not maintaining our lawn. They said nothing about the lawn for 9 months and then sent someone to mow it in the middle of COVID without even sending us a warning. When I talked to the man mowing the lawn, he said the service only cost 30 which means that Respace charged us an arbitrary 100 extra dollars in the middle of a recession because they felt like it. When we inquired about why we never received a warning, they simply said that it was up to them whether or not to give us the \courtesy\ of a warning. They completely patronized us. They also never sent me a warning when they sent people to tour the property, which was actually a violation of my lease. Every time, I had to find out from my roommates that someone was coming. We finally moved out at the end of July and they charged us 1800 dollars in fees. Although I wasn't there when my roommates moved in and can't speak to the condition of the house, my previous experience with Respace tells me that these charges are bogus; they even charged us a cleaning fee when we hired professional cleaners to clean on our last day. Overall, Respace made it clear that they have no respect for their tenants. Unfortunately, this is to be expected with Austin leasing agent. However, they are not going to treat me like this without me leaving a review.
On Wednesday, we set up an appointment to view a house for Saturday. We drove in 3 hours from out of town and pulled up in the driveway exactly on time. We waited 10 minutes before giving our agent a call. We called 4 times back to back with no response. We also texted him telling him that we had arrived, once again with no response. We then called the agency to have no response from them... An hour later, our agent texted us back telling us that he was unresponsive and a no show because of personal reasons. He had no decency to call and apologize for our 7 hour loss in time and travel cost. I am still appalled... I have no idea what circumstances he could have been in, that a simple text to his clients was too much to fulfill... It would have taken 10-15 seconds to shoot us a text letting us know he couldn’t make it. It would have taken 2-3 minutes for him to send another agent our way. The agency called back 3 hours later, when we were already an hour through our trip back home. I DO NOT RECOMMEND RESPACE.
