Having heard and read much about the AFL-CIO, I sought them out in a time of need. It seemed to start right as they gave me a referral to the CWA. Unfortunately, the CWA rep didn't want to help me and he encouraged me to quit, probably because he didn't want to help me even though continuing to unionize served my best interests. Later I would learn some of the tips this CWA rep gave me turned out to be bad advice. I eventually realized much of what I read and heard about the AFL-CIO seemed negative, so my experience confirms that! The IWW turned out better, so please bypass the AFL-CIO and search for other unions.
