I currently live at The Block on 28th. The apartment itself is nice and the maintenance team is very responsive, however there is a huge security problem within the building. The front door is almost always unlocked, allowing free access to the entire building, which has allowed incidents of vandalism to occur throughout the year. I recently purchased a parking pass for the on site garage and within two weeks of parking here my car was hotwired. By chance, I caught the suspect in the act, resulting in a threatening altercation. Upon working with the police, I found that there was absolutely no security footage available. My vehicle is being worked on for the next month due to damages, yet I am still having to pay parking fees. Employees and management have been as helpful as they can through this process, but the American Campus Corporation scams its employees and customers alike. Do yourself a favor and do not sign a lease with American Campus.

I’ve had mixed experiences living at American campus for almost two years. It’s always hard to get in touch with the management, which makes sense bc there’s so many residents. But at the Block on 28th I’ve had a wonderful experience with the JC who works within maintenance. I had lots of issues with my AC, and he helped me out a lot while being a pleasant, friendly face. I appreciate his kindness a lot especially in such a big complex.

Living area and bedrooms are nice, but their wifi is questionable - it kept crashing during Zoom classes. I considered getting a different internet provider so it wouldn't happen again but I learned they do not allow you to bring your own wifi. Good location near Campus and food venues, and parking is covered. If high-speed internet is important to you, don't sign a lease here - otherwise, the place is pretty good.

Jill, Taylor & Holly have been amazing to work with, answered so many questions & helped a move in happen with several extenuating circumstances. We are so grateful!!

*Update: I uploaded this review earlier today along with 5 photos of how my apartment was before I moved in (including a molded air vent) and since then a few photos were removed.* I would give this place 0 stars if I could. The pictures I posted are from the day I was suppose to move in last July. I refused to move in until they offered to install a new oven and resurface the tub and sink which I was only offered after speaking to 3 different people. Even the maids who cleaned my apartment before I moved in told me “you shouldn’t move into this apartment”. I incurred 2 extra days worth of moving costs (truck and storage) because I couldn’t move in the day I was suppose to. This place is always trashed by the residents, which isn’t the property manager’s fault, but if they actually addressed these issues as they occur since they have surveillance, the maintenance men would not have to deal with picking up beer bottles and trash every Monday after the weekend. The only reason I am living here is because of how convenient it is to get to classes, but now that there are so many other new properties being built, I advise everyone reading this to avoid The Block and even American Campus as a whole.
