***UPDATE 10/25/18: location is NOT filtering water during Austin’s boil water notice. I guess they didn’t want to or couldn’t keep up with filtering all the silt in the municipal water supply as a result of the recent record-breaking amounts of rainfall that have filled the lake system with silt, mud, and bacteria-laden floodwater runoff leading to the “turbidity” in our city’s waterworks and making it fail State and Federal health standards..*** [Original Post Below] I had used watermill express maybe a half-dozen times prior to tonight— a Sunday evening at 8:00pm. Pulled up to the kiosk and both sides of the water dispenser have a red LED shining next to text on the panel which says, “OUT OF WATER.” ...well, Watermill...no, *that’s not accurate* Since I know this franchise operates by connecting to city water and filtering it inside the kiosk, they aren’t “out of water”—rather, the franchisee has just neglected to maintain the filters and the system won’t dispense until they perform that routine maintenance. And the system surely gives alerts to the owner to “change filter soon” just like an icemaker’s water filter in your home freezer. Sunday evening is a busy time for people stocking up on groceries and filtered water to start the week, and I’ve Already seen at least 2 dozen vehicles pull up and drive away in the handful of minutes I took to bang out this review. That’s poor management and poor maintenance scheduling to let their location go into auto-shutoff during a peak demand time. It’s a shame it’s not a reliable service.
