This school is pure magic! Mixed with lots of love, space for imagination, creativity, relationship, movement, rhythm and ritual. I have never experienced a place like Madrona before. The Parent Child class sold me on the ways of Waldorf - observation, quiet space, engaging, child led play, and self awareness and reflection. We want our kiddos to know themselves, to speak/use their voice and to have a strong sense of agency over themselves. This school. Madrona. The Waldorf education has already given our daughter a strong sense of self and she lives from that place. As a mom I always feel like I am being guided to get to my own place as a mother, what feels right for me not anyone else. The teachers provide that space, they ask provoking questions as they listen to you and I always find my way. I could go on and on!

This school is all about giving kids a chance to be kids, while cultivating a love of nature, art, human interaction, and building a community of passionate learners. It focuses on becoming someone who can think for themselves, while also looking out for the good of the community with compassion. Diamond in the rough.

My eight year old son has been attending Madrona since first grade and is now in second grade. We visited every private school on the Kitsap and selected Madrona because of their approach to the whole human being integrating spiritual and emotional development. I hadn't been familiar with the Waldorf culture, and have been thrilled and over the moon with the magic and joy in the classroom, learning how to learn, the storytelling, in depth art and movement, no teaching to a test, and love our teacher who deeply loves and cares for each child, customizing learning and character development. Before I always felt like I would be the best teacher if I homeschool him, and the teaching staff here wows me where I am clear that they are not just way more professional but know so much more about childhood development that has allowed me to be coached by them at to be a better parent as well. The parent community is deeply invested and cares to create a school culture that is like family through thick and thin. Like anything, it's not perfect. What I Iove is that we can work anything out in communication and have parents be open and responsive even through tough conversations. I had no idea, that schools like this could still exist and this makes my heart happy for my child and our family.

Madrona School offers a practical and developmentally-appropriate education from parent-tot through 8th grade. Both my sons have had a love of school since starting there in Kindergarten and 2nd grade, respectively. When I first visited a Waldorf school in another city, I felt like this was the way that I would have loved to learn as a kid. The subjects are taught in multiple modes for different learning styles - visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. The subjects also appeal to the emotional level which helps with retention. There are many reasons why I think Waldorf education is a great model. Here are a few things that make Madrona stand out: The grades each perform a play each year which builds public speaking confidence. There are many subjects besides the core academics such as art, handwork, Spanish, and orchestra that foster creativity and expand kids' abilities. Overall, this is a wonderful school with a very supportive parent community.

Madrona School is a gem! I didn't know much about Waldorf education before teaching Spanish at Madrona School several years ago, but I quickly learned that it is a whole-child-centered education that deeply includes music, language, handwork, movement, and scientific observation, all through practically-lived daily experiences. The staff and faculty and families at Madrona are funny, creative, thoughtful, and kind. They are truly heart-centered. My desire is for every child to have this kind of loving, deep, good, artistic, and human-paced education!

We have been at Madrona for three years now. My daughter is in 3rd and my son in 1st. I cherish their learning experience...the pace is balanced, their work is done with love and they spend a lot of time outdoors. We love Madrona and it’s wonderful community!

My daughter is in fifth grade, and she loves her school and her teacher. We enjoy going to the eight grade graduation each year to see the amazing teens that have grown and thrived at Madrona. The results say it all.
