One of the best restaurants in the area, including Tallahassee. It's worth the hour drive from Tallahassee to dine there. We moved from Nashville, TN just over a year ago and The American could compete in Nashville's foodie culture where we have amazing restaurants. Not only is the food on point and delicious, but the ambience is charming and well-appointed without being pretentious at all. Bainbridge is lucky to have this little gem.

One awesome burger... a perfect mix of brisket and short ribs topped with cheddar. Delicious!!! Love the American theme in the restaurant and the cute little seating areas. Everything was neat and clean to include the bathrooms. Service was excellent keep up the good work and we will see you again soon.
Absolutely beautiful restaurant with a great menu. Not your usual lunch menu. We had pecan encrusted boneless chicken breast with a fabulous cream corn and a tender rib eye chop and smoked gouda cheese grits. For dessert we had banana cream pie that was delicious and a rather dry but tasty chocolate cake. A nice restaurant!! Give it a try.
We enjoyed a wonderful lunch at the American. The food was fresh and delicious. We ordered the tomato basil soup and salad, also the crab cake and fries. For dessert we had the banana cream pie. Everything was prepared with a gourmet twist that made it different from the norm. Our server was friendly and there for all our needs. We will go to the American again and highly recommend this restaurant.
Food was fantastic, but service wasn't so great. Our server was very nice and decently attentive, and my steak was cooked perfectly medium-rare. However, my fries were cold, the entree came out too quickly after the salad, and my partner's food came almost 5 minutes after mine. For such a high price point these small mistakes are a let down from a perfect evening.
