We typically ride the Sumpter Valley Rail at least once during the summer (during flea market weekends) If you have small children I would not recommend the train robbery rides as they act out robbing the train and fire blanks from their guns . This year we did the Christmas lights train ride, and it was fabulous! Bravo Sumpter for putting on a great little Christmas parade!

Honestly, this was a perfectly fun excursion for the afternoon. The highlight is a slow-moving old fashioned train ride through some unique geography. The volunteer staff are terrific, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the place. That said, there's not much else to do besides visit the stores at either end so don't expect hours of entertainment. If you're in this neck of the woods, I recommend it.
