One of Virginia's best vineyards! No, one of America's best vineyards. Very cozy tasting room. Amazing views. Beautiful barrel room. Very cool private tasting room, Library 1821, and a first class restaurant, Palladio. And the wines is fantastic! Great bubbles, solid Cab and a world class blend, Octagon. Mr. Jefferson would be proud.

This was the first of nine wineries we visited on the weekend. The overall experience landed it among the top two. First off, we had a choice to do a self-service tasting for a cheaper price, or more of a premium experience seated in more of a restaurant setting. We chose the latter and were glad we did. We ordered tastings, which arrived in glasses rather than medicine cups or small plastic cups. We ordered a cheese plate, which was not cheap, but had plenty for the three of us to share. The staff were nice and knowledgeable, which we found later in our weekend, was not the norm. This is more than a winery; it's a destination. The Governor's mansion ruins is a neat place to walk over to. The old landscaping is cool. It's a shame it burned and was never rebuilt. During nicer weather, you could picnic around the grounds. Parking was plentiful, even for our large camper.
Barboursville is a must do! From Mark ( waitstaff at Palladio) to Carrie and Kristen in Library 1821 everyone was hospitable, professional and awesome. We cancelled all other plans and spent the day. Lunch at Palladio was delicious, wine pairings phenomenal. The tasting was fabulous. The selection of wines are sure to please any palate. Thank you Barboursville for making us feel special and for the great experience!
Excellent wines. Convenient tasting system lets you pick from eight reds and eight whites, poured by robotics. Tasting of wines not in the machines available on request.
Manager was very friendly and took a nice amount of time to talk with us about the wines and winery. The tasting gives you a card and its self service, very nice way of doing it. Excellent location and very friendly staff!!
