Bastrop county has incredible animal control officers. The two women helped me with a tiny dog that had been hiding out on our property for weeks. They were able to trap her safely and take her out of the cold. It turns out she is very sweet, just reacting out of fear. We are lucky to have such caring and knowledgeable officers here to help us and the animals.

Be prepared to take your time at this animal shelter. The dogs are well cared for and so loving. The employees and volunteers are kind, helpful and plentiful- so getting to know your pet is quickly handled in a private yard. Only come here if you're serious about giving an animal it's forever family- these loving, loyal animals deserve it.

Applied for a pet, got approved (we discovered after we followed up), but animal placed in another home. Complaint is they never proactively contacted us as we waited for days for a response. Plain human decency is to let expecting owner the status of their adoption requests. There is room for improvement with communication skills. We have adopted from there before, really good experience with every visit.
