Had a great experience renting a tandem kayak here. Helped us with everything we needed to get it on the car, very friendly and knowledgeable. Price is great and we wholly plan on returning

Knowledgeable, efficient, and courteous owners/staff. They own, use, and know what they sell.

I called here early in the spring looking for canoe paddles. I spoke with the owner who told me they weren't really open for the season yet but I could stop in if I wanted to, so I did. He was kind enough to open the shop for me and gave me a pretty good deal on 2 paddles.

Great canoes and Kayaks to purchase, the prices affordable too. The service after sales however is non existent. My family and I purchase Canoes, kayaks and all the trimmings the past few years. Don't bother to call for advices, suggestion or anything. If you don't buy they just not interested in helping you. Or eally busy\, rude or have not clue, and that happen after each and every call. I called OLD TOWN and got great service. I'm done with this store. My tourist dollars in Maine will go somewhere else............more Maine like character.

Normally I will go out of my way to shop small businesses, and did so here. Several years ago I had purchased multiple kayaks from this store, had a good experience and now needed some additional paddles. I will provide the facts of my transaction and leave customers to come to their own conclusions, but I left feeling this owner does a disservice to small businesses everywhere by the way he handled my purchase. He showed me several kayak paddles on a wall rack, some marked with prices, others not. He took two paddles (not price marked) off the wall and told me he could sell me these for 69.00 each. While the others were marked in the 100 range each, this seemed like a good value. I completed the purchase and left the store. The total came to over 150.00. While preparing to use the paddles a few hours later, I noticed one of them still had a sticker on it and upon closer inspection noticed it was from a national big box retailer. I looked them up quickly on line to find they sell for 19.88 each. I was \upcharged\ over 100 in total for no incremental value. I returned to the store and started my conversation with the owner saying I was \disappointed\ in what I found out, and before I could even continue the conversation he became rude and belligerent, telling me I was \hypocritical\ for not expecting to pay more from a local merchant for convenience. I told him he was entitled to a reasonable premium and did not mind paying more, but this was beyond reasonable and what I would characterize as a rip-off. He then offered to give me a refund, which I accepted. Before I could even get the paddles from my car he reneged on the refund and told me if I tried to stop my credit card from being processed he would give me a negative mark against my credit. Buyer beware with this merchant, lesson learned -- this is the last time I will go here.
