I had back surgery last May. And I’m so grateful for Dr Baker & his team. Before The surgery I couldn’t even lay down to sleep at night numbness in my legs back hands and at times paralyzing. My life has been restored. Thank you!

A wonderful Doctor. He has performed several back surgeries on me over the past 25 years. They were all successful. I only trust Dr. Baker to operate on my back. He is the best.

Daughter had major surgery with him Feb of 18, and he would not administer the dosage of post operative pain medication she had been taking before surgery. Her tolerance was higher than normal because of the severity of her case. She is also a red head and also requires more anesthesia during drntal procedures and surgeries than others. He made the decision (when she was on a contract with her regular pain management dotor), to lower get doese immediately after her coming down from surgery. She had just had a rod and 4 screws placed in her lower back? This was very barbaric and inhumane at this particular time, it made her pain management dotor irrate, and ge suggested writing a review as well as reporting him to the medical board. She had been taking the same medication for years and wanted to have this surgery to get off pain meds...but he had no right to immediately after surgery to make that decision..if at all since she was under a different physicians care for that. Pleaae just be aware..that this doctor likes to do things on his own agenda..and he makes the nurses do as he says and not what the patient has been used to. I would be prepared to bring any of your own medication, just to be safe...because he will maje things a living hell for you or your family member after surgery to the point of bringing in the hospitals administration down to your family memebers room to express your disgust and anger to. I will NOT USE ST Joseph's hospital or Meredith for a surgery and wish you the best if you do not require. A heavy dose.

I saw Dr. Baker last year regarding stenosis of the spine, it's a narrowing of the spinal column that puts pressure on the on the spinal cord. Dr. Baker told me that I needed surgery right away and two surgeries one in the neck and one in the back. He describes a scenario of going in through the front of my neck and fusing bones together - which is one of the worst things that you can do and if avoidable always avoid it! The surgery could have also affected my vocal chords either temporarily or permanently. Then he went on vacation for two weeks. Which gave me time to get a second opinion. I ended up going to Virginia Mason Seattle and saw some of the best neurological surgeons in the business. They noticed my case was very severe, put me in a neckbrace right away, saw me on a Thursday and got me into surgery on that Monday. Instead of fusing bones together they did a laminoplasty which provides me with a much better mobility. It's been a year later and two surgeries I'm doing 5K's, I'm going to the gym, and I'm still truck driving as a hazmat truck driver doing things that I did before the surgeries. When it comes to the most important things like spinal surgeries always get a second opinion !
