I work for a local business that orders a lot of glass from various local equipment dealers. I called for a price, delivery date and part number from RECO. The salesperson I spoke with quoted me just shy of 600 for the part and 3 days delivery. After collecting this information, I contacted my customer who gave me the go ahead to order the part. I called RECO and ordered it that day. The part comes in and I am invoiced for it. I see the invoice on my desk the next day. It totals just shy of 750. I call RECO to ask about why the difference from original quoted price. I was told that that extra charge was for freight. I asked the salesperson why was I not told about a freight charge. I was told, \Parts are not shipped for free\. I asked why they didn't mention the freight charge when quoting the price. \I don't know\, was the response given. I was told that stock orders are free shipping but otherwise there is freight charged. I asked why I was not even given the option to choose. I was told, \There was a breakdown in communication\. I asked what were we going to do about the difference and was told, \I don't know\. I asked if there was someone I could speak to about this issue. The salesperson told me he would speak to his manager. The salesperson called me back and stated that they could refund 60 to us. I agreed reluctantly due to my boss telling me to be nice and just let it go. Just a side point: I do not have a problem with freight charges as long as I am made aware up front. It is very difficult to absorb them, however, after you quote your customer a price.
