Custom Performance Coating Reviews | Rating 4,5 out of 5 stars (4 reviews)

Custom Performance Coating is located in Beltsville, United States on 6802 Mid Cities Ave. Custom Performance Coating is rated 4.5 out of 5 in the category consumer services in United States. Custom Performance Coating was created to provide the best coating options in the Baltimore / Washington area. Custom Performance Coating is able to provide high quality anodizing, powder coating, sand blasting, and other coating services at competitive prices. Powder coating is a process where a colored powder is applied to a raw or unfinished part using a magnetically charged spray. After the part is coated, heat is applied in an oven to allow the powder to melt onto the piece and provide a full, even finish. This method of coating results in a very durable finish that is completely uniform on the coated part. Powder coating is far more resistant to water and other forms of degradation than traditional paint, and is the perfect choice for a lasting finish. Also due to the nature of how the powder is applied, the end result is a much more even coat than traditional paint, leaving your part looking flawless. Powder coating is also more environmentally friendly and does not produce the volatile organic compounds that are found in the painting process. Unlike traditional paint, the overspray from powder coating can also be recycled and does not require the chemical treatment that paint would have to undergo.

I chose them over several companies in the DC metro area because they had done a similar metal glider, seemed to be a professional shop and their website was impressive. However, my metal deck furniture rusted worse after expensive powder coating that the owner assured me would prevent rusting of the nearly new furniture that had begun to rust and wasn't worth disassembling and paying to return to the online retailer. He offered to redo them after seeing the rust, stains and streaks within a year of powder coating them. It took many months for him to pick them up and redo them. His plan was to push the paint further into the tube frames and apply a thicker coat over the body, but they appear no better after the second attempt. In fact, sand poured out of the frames worse this time and the paint finish is uneven and barely covers the metal in some areas. The sandblasting the second time blew holes in the thick metal in a couple areas. They melted the plastic washers (that made them glide smoothly and prevented metal-on-metal damage) to the frames and lost the majority of the original hardware and replaced it with inappropriate mismatched parts without saying anything. All four pieces they redid began to rust badly after the first rain, which is far worse than the first time. The owner was unapologetic and flippant. I would obviously not use them again.
