Class of ‘90. A lot of school pride. Some great teachers. Diverse. But segregated by class and race. It is several schools in one. Easy to fall between the cracks. It is ranked as having the most successful African American graduates in the nation, per capita. Seems about right from my estimation. I enjoyed my time there. I think of it fondly. Got me to the next level. Who says that about high school?
Berkeley High is an incredible school with amazing resources and opportunities. There are classes for practically everything, and students can be as challenged as they want. We have over 80 clubs, an award winning newspaper and jazz program, and not to mention a ridiculous number of hilarious and fun traditions (RALLY DAY, Assassin, Senior Streak, promposals, Dare Night). I’m so grateful for Berkeley High and the wonderful people here.
Best students ever!
I a teacher from Upstate NY and know the true example of the quality of a school is when neither teacher or parents are around. I was at several different stores and each time met students from Berkeley. They were Polite and Helpful. I come from a rural part of NY so not used to a big city school system\u003e I am impressed by the students behavior and willingness to help. They enjoyed talking sports during the process as well - not a surprise having been a coach. I came to CA to be a Grad Student. I will be less hesitant to look into being a Sub for this district by their students' example when neither parent or teacher is around. I never stepped foot on the campus, but I am impressed by these students actions. It is not what is said is important, but how their actions speak it! My compliments to all of you. Now one encouraged me to try my hand at skate boarding, but chose not to try, I nearly broke bones when I said this looked easy till I placed the second foot on the board. Hey, Keep up the Great work!
