DO IT !!!!!! I've done 2 Berkeley improv classes over the past couple months. Improv 101 Improv For Real Life. I highly recommend them both. I'm such a noooob and everyone made me feel SO WELCOME and encouraging! The faculty and students are so, so warm. I've looked forward to each class with excitement and the time flies by. Special shoutout to KAT DUDLEY, who is by far one of the most amazing teachers I have had EVER in life. Her energy is infectious, and her course and teaching style is so wonderful. Like every vibrant and colorful emoji having a pArTy THAT AWESOME. Ps. If you're in a financial bind, send them an email and they will kindly work something out with you. No need to be scared! If you're reading this review, you already know you want to do it. Improv is about people having your back :) ENJOY

Berkeley Improv is terrific! Great place to get started with improv. All of the instructors I have taken classes with are terrific, and it's a great place to make friends and build a good community. The content is also very approachable to all levels - if you want a challenge, you will be challenged! If you're trying to ease into it, they have plenty of patience and experience to help you feel welcomed.

What do I say about Berkeley Improv? I took their 101 class a few times and then made my way into their 201 class, which I've now been taking for the past two years. The entire community--its teachers as well as its students--is incredibly supportive and ensures you have a safe, non-judgmental space to be creative and grow regardless of your prior (if any) experience with improv. I especially love how my teacher, Arastoo, hones in on the fact that improvisers aren't people who simply do slap-stick comedy. But rather we're full-blown actors who use improv as a tool that aids us in our storytelling. I've never felt the pressure to be funny and instead been given the freedom to even do dramatic scenes because at the end of the day, we want to emotionally connect with our audience, regardless of whether it's through pure humor or not. And having a teacher that recognizes and gives me this freedom is something I sincerely appreciate. Keep up the great work Berkeley Improv--your community's light and good vibes is just what this Universe needs!
