Very friendly staff and took a bike ride of the park visiting the WWII historical monuments and exploring the natural ecosystem of the area.

We love checking out bikes and helmets from the bike barn! Many adult bikes have baskets, which is really helpful. Make sure you get there early if you need kids' bikes or trailers. They have them, but they go quickly, and you don't want to get stuck waiting for what you need to be returned. If you do end up waiting, there is a great playground just up the trail, and the nature exhibits inside the nature center are great. There is a gift shop in the fort miles area. Consider bringing money or a card while you are out riding in case you see something that strikes your fancy.
What a great program by Friends Of Cape Henlopen. You can borrow a bike & helmet for up to 2 hours for free (although they accept and need donations) Because they go fast, it's best to get there early if you can. Their maintenance of the bikes has improved over the years, but still keep an eye out for loose seats etc. These get used a lot, so it's not surprising.
Free bike rentals. People are amazing. Helpful. Bikes are good and maintained, I know they are not the new ones or something fancy, but for something that is free of charges it is way more than expected. They also provide buggy for free if you have a child. Donations are welcomed, and certainly it will be a good thing to do. Good job here NPS. On the side, they have a very nice display of Ospreys and many fishes that are unique to this place. Well displayed.
Two hours use of loaner, no cost, single speed beach cruiser to tour the many park paved bike trails. They have 40 adult bikes and 15 bike for children so on a first come, first served basis the only negative is all available bikes could be loaned out and you might have to wait for an hour to get a bike after it is returned.
