Had a customer come into my store looking for this business. Their old location said they had moved to Sturgis Road. We could not locate this business, so I called and they have their phone blocked to incoming calls. My customer has trusted this person with her antique buffet and 3 antique chairs, and had given him a retainer for the work he was to do for her. She cannot find him or his business. I would not recommend this business to anyone after what happened to a very nice lady.

I left my deceased mother's vanity the end of November. He said he could probably have it done by Christmas, seemed to forget that. Like another review I read can't get ahold of him. End of March I was picking it up done or not, more than enough time. If he had to much work to get it done in a timely manner he shouldn't take more jobs. Showed me receipts he had not finished since September. Wasn't sanded down, just put new over the top of old, cigarette burn, small cuts that weren't there when I dropped it off. I have before and after pictures. He was so RUDE, said I was his most annoying customer. Couldn't find the mirror I left in his mess, wanted me to help him look for it saying he never accepts mirrors even though it was on the receipt. I wasn't leaving without it. I had to pay someone else 150 had it done in 2 weeks and it looks amazing. I wasted , donated 585 total, had to leave 200 deposit plus I had to pay 385 when I picked it up for Jay to do nothing. I would have left it there without paying but it was sentimental to me, what a waste of money. I would NOT recommend Black Hills Furniture Shoppe. Just got a coupon for 50 from them, what a joke.

The service and craftsmanship were terrible. My fiance and I moved to the Black Hills region and had a moving company move our furniture. A table was improperly stored during the move and was damaged during the process of moving it from Sioux Falls. The moving company stated they would pay for the repair of the table which was acceptable at the time and they had taken it to Black Hills Furniture Shop. This is now where the complete lack of professionalism and service begin. After two months after it was taken to them originally and after several attempts to reach them by phone while leaving several voice mails, the table was supposedly done. After we had placed the legs back on, there was still a bow of 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch in 5 feet. We then took it back in which it took another 3 months for them to call in which the owner Jay, was well aware of the situation. In getting the table back for the second time, it still has a bow of 1/4 inch on each side. Jay stated this was acceptable to his standards. There were additional marks on the table as well as stains from other projects. We now have our table back and rather pursue additional nightmares in dealing with the Furniture Shop we've accepted in having a bowed table. The professionalism and etiquette displayed by Jay was completely lacking in all aspects. My profession requires me to lift foundations that have settled and I've done a better in lifting a 40 foot poured concrete wall then they have fixing a table.
