I wonder if there is still radiation in the area? I think it would interesting to check it out.

Yep, for hundreds of years there will still be radiation. The actual burial grounds are 1600' NE of the reactor site. Google the SL-1 Accident -- there's a good YouTube video documentary about the excursion.
