I was referred to this facility from a trusted ski friend in Duluth, MN. Initially, I had great service and was welcomed in for my appointment. I tried to explain the purpose of my visit, what boots and bindings I was hoping for. My hope was for AT boots and bindings. I acknowledged that there could have been a miscommunication about this but they did not appear confused by my request. After going through the entire custom boot fitting process, the team member of the shop appeared confused by my request. He admitted that my request would be hard to fulfill and ultimately made me feel more like a burden than a valued customer. He did try to find a few pairs of boots to fit me. After only being able to find one boot of a pair that actually worked (he looked for the other boot but could not find it), it was decided they probably would not work for my skill level. The team member then informed me he would call a few of the boot suppliers and get back to me the following Monday. He did apologize for not being able to fit me with what I needed. I received no phone call or follow up. My appointment was nearly two hours without result and left me feeling more confused about boots, bindings and skis than I had when I entered the store. I waited for a phone call for about one week but received none. I then went back to my local shop in Duluth and got fitted for bindings and boots without issue. They had boots for me in the store as well as bindings for my skill level without question.

Top Ranked Alpine Racing Heritage Nothing is sweeter than the smell of ski wax melting early in the morning. Pierce is a fixture in the local Alpine racing community. I’d argue Pierce’s success is inextricably linked to the success of statewide high school, USSA, and Master’s Alpine programs. If you seek excellence and are open to direct, candid feedback - you will be happy @ Pierce. If you are a moron looking to make stubborn choices out of uninformed stupidity that will negatively impact your sports experience, there are other shops in town that will unfortunately accept your money. You can count on finding nearly all the high-quality Alpine brands that sponsor the US Ski team. The shop hasn’t changed in 30 years. It needs a bit of lipstick in order to match modern form to its high caliber function. But then again, as skiers we know the # 1 priority put gear to task outside the shop.

I have been in this shop at least 8 times over the past 3 years and have always left frustrated with lack of customer service. Sure, they have good stuff but there are other skate shops in town and there are other ski shops in town that will be more helpful, polite and avoid being condescending. I plan to bring my business elsewhere for now on, I suggest you do too.

This place is great. Had Dave Hinz do a boot fitting for me and he is an absolute pro. He didn't rush, ensured I tried on several boots, did an excellent job explaining the differences and what to be aware of. He instantly knew I had injured my ankle a few years ago (basketball), and explained what to look out for in the future. Top notch, great place, can't recommend it enough.
