A top notch operation! Everyone there takes their job seriously, is very knowledgeable and professionally trained and licensed. I found that they make safety a priority while at the same time making the experience of learning to sail accessible and enjoyable.

My husband and I recently completed the Basic Keelboat ASA 101 certification with Bluewater sailing and it was a great experiences! There are no better sports to learn than sailing during Covid, the sea breeze and sun will keep you healthy and happy! Our instructor is Elliot who is super experienced and detailed and each class with him in the boat we improved a lot. All the people there are super friendly, we now go there every weekend to keep practicing and will take more lessons with them to progress our sailing skills. They are hands down the best sailing school inn Los Angeles.
I recently got my ASA basic keelboat certification at Bluewater Sailing and I cannot believe that it took me 9 years of living in LA to finally pick up sailing. There's no better view of LA than from the water and the guys at Bluewater Sailing (Ryan, Elliot & team I am looking at you!) did an amazing job not just by teaching me the technical aspects of sailing but how to get the most out of sailing in the Santa Monica bay and got me excited to get certified on bigger boats. I particularly enjoyed having different instructors throughout the course - it really helps to understand everything better when different people explain the same thing and I appreciated the genuine interest not just to get through the course material but make you fall in love with sailing and confident to go out on your own. I've already referred a friend to them since and if you're considering to learn how to sail, this is the place.
We had the best time celebrating a birthday. I will definitely do this again. The food was great, the scenery amazing and our gondolier, Justin, was awesome!
Bluewater Sailing was exactly what I was looking for. I've always loved the ocean but I'd never sailed before. About a month ago I decided to take the plunge and learn to sail. After fairly extensive research I decided to take the ASA 101 course and choose Bluewater due to pretty good reviews. Bluewater did not dissapoint. This is a small company with a personal touch. During the four day class I met most if not all of the staff and every last person was friendly and invested in my learning and having a good time. David was incredibly helpful answering all of my questions while I signed up for the class. Logan and Brian were amazing instructors taking great care to make sure our class knew what we needed. They teach you what you need to know for the test but their focus is definately on making sure you are capable and confident enough to skipper a boat on your own. Even Eliot, the owner would stop by before class and help me with knots and any questions I had. This place is truely committed to helping you learn. Please note that this is not a casual class where you can relax for hours as someone sails you around Santa Monica bay. If that's what you're looking for Bluewater will charter you a boat with a skipper and you'll have an amazing time. You'll get out of these classes what you put into them. If you're committed to learning they are fantastic. Before I started the class I would have to lookup which side was port and starboard. A week after the class I'm planning on using my free charter that came with the class and skippering a boat without the instructor. I'm going back for the 103 class as soon as I can.
