When I was a student I was one of very few LGBT students. The school allowed me to be severely bullied despite their so called “anti-bully” policies. It has recently been brought to my attention that a teacher at the school was supporting LGBT students by participating in the day of silence and is being punished for it. I’m absolutely appalled that you would punish a teacher for raising awareness (see also, teaching) about LGBT suicide and how it’s a major issue in the world we live in. Not only is the school saying it’s okay to bully LGBT students, they are also contributing to the reason we even have a National day of silence.
