I started going to the FCC because I wanted to learn the language. Once there I found out they did way more than classes (which are fantastic/immersion style). Events in both English and French are a ton of fun. Highly recommend checking them out if you want to learn more about the language/culture or just like the wine!

An excellent community gathering place for those interested in speaking French or learning about and sharing in the Francophone world. The Ciné-club and the Alors... conversation groups are particularly worthwhile.

My family has taken classes at the FCC since moving to Boston from abroad a few years back. To start, classes for my daughter are engaging, fun, well- structured, and led by dynamic teachers, and she enjoys attending and meeting new friends. Summer camp is full on immersion, which she also enjoyed (even though not fluent), and take advantage of nearby green spaces. Last summer, and dependent on the class theme, she attended an MFA exhibit with her class (an exhibit tied in with the week's curriculum). Membership offers class discounts, both for kids and adults, and is a benefit. I have found adult level classes good value (and challenging, in a good way!), and with much emphasis on building conversation skills. Find exciting events for all (from young to older...) throughout the year, some in French, but not all so English speakers welcome, and many open to members and non-members. Highlights of the year include a fabulous Bastille Day fete on Marlborough street in July, a lively holiday market in Dec., to name just two. We Recommend.

I started taking group beginner classes at the French Cultural Center and have been pleased with the process. I have a high school equivalency. My teacher, Angelique, is fantastic. She speaks 99% of the time in French, making you immersed to listening to the language and dialect. The class is small with 3 people but we all appear to be at the same level based on our placement tests prior to the class. The books and CD/DVD are appropriate and the homework is never stressful. The class meets for 1.5 hours 2x week over 10 weeks, but they go by fast because they are enjoyable. I am anticipating on moving onto the intermediate classes.

The instructors here are first class (I've interacted with 4 different ones so far), and they make learning really enjoyable. The classes are pricey, but worth every penny in my opinion.
