It's a ship. Interesting place to visit if you're into naval history and architecture.

Awesome ship right next to the USS Constitution. After touring the Constitution I was walking around and heard a tour being announced for the Cassin Young. It was free and took walk ins. I decided to take the tour and it was awesome. The tour guide took us through the ship and was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Parts of the ship are accessible to those not on a tour, but I highly recommend taking the tour. Great way to spend an hour or so learning about the history of the ship and the wars it took part in.

Although she is a bit in the shadow of Old Ironsides, the USS Cassin Young was a great, informative visit of this historical icon. Staff was nice and punctual when it opened. Would definitely visit again. According the NPS, she engaged in seven Pacific battles in World War II, survived two Kamikaze hits, and served another full decade beyond her expected lifetime

Free. Pretty neat experience to go on the ship. There are free tours if you have a 45 minute commitment. If you don’t take the tour all you get is the top deck. There is a 20 MM anti aircraft gun you can grab ahold of and feel what it would be like with a Japanese plane coming in.

I have never enjoyed a tour of anything as much in my life. Bob, our guide, was very knowledgeable and a true gentleman. The USS Cassin Young is a time capsule and will transport you back to the 1940s and 1950s. I feel privileged to have had the chance to see around a vessel that represents so much of a great nation. It is almost sacred. I would recommend a visit.

At the Navy Yard in Charlestown lie the USS Constitution and the USS Cassin Young. We got there on a lovely crisp fall day. It is a beautiful sight worth a visit. Both ships can be entered (after security inspection). You can also get a water cab to the North End, and there is a small bar overlooking the water. The Navy Yard is on the Freedom Trail, making it very easy and convenient for tourists. I can highly recommend the Freedom Trail and the Navy Yard, followed by a water cab to the North End for a wet lunch.
