Extremely popular weekend hike in Breckenridge. It’s a beautiful alpine lake, but get ready to hike with throngs of people. Oh yeah, and the fishing is fun at the upper lake.

Beautiful scenery. Wasn't from the area so the altitude was difficult for me.
I arrived close to 8AM, and the parking lot was full but I still parked pretty close to the trailhead. The hike up was quite shaded for most of it, and it wasn't too bad until the steep section about halfway into the hike. Views were pretty with mountains in the distance and being surrounded by trees, and the waterfall was small but pleasant. The lakes were pretty as well, and there were lots of places to sit around it. Good hike! I didn't (know to) go all the way to the last lake, just went to Upper Mohawk Lake which took me 3.5 hours round-trip not including time spent at the top.
I was to busy eating lunch and enjoying the fish swimming around I forgot to get a good picture of upper Mohawk Lake but I got a nice shot of lower and surrounding views. Honestly Lower is the nicer looking lake but Upper is only maybe 10-15 minutes further so it’s worth it.
Beautiful hike. A little too busy for my liking but really appreciated being able to take my dog.
