Bristow's conditioning is among the best of public courses in the area, especially the fairways and greens, and it's reasonably priced. So it's a good value. The starter often seems out of touch with what's going on, despite having a full view of the practice area and 1st tee. Pace of play has always been an issue here - it's not due to a lot of play during COVID, but because of the layout. #1 is short and easy, followed by a long hole with a forced carry off the tee and a stream in front of the green, then a par 3 over water and then a par 5 that requires laying up off the tee to stay short of the stream. 4-6 run in parallel, cross the same stream, so you have play held up by balls coming from the other holes and having to deal with the stream. 7 & 8 are just hard, so the front 9 is usually well backed up by that point. 11 is a long par 3, so play backs up there (and is when I have left, having been at 3 hours at that point). Play opens up after. A lot of people don't like that 3/4 par 5s are crossed by streams and require placement rather than bombing it, but I like the shot values & conditioning and try to play it when it seems less crowded. The grass range and two practice greens make it a good place to work on your game. It's walkable, and the openness makes it a good place to play in the fall/winter since frost delays are fewer and shorter due to more exposure to sun than most of the courses carved out of woods.

Quirky front nine with a creek that you have to cross multiple times. Quite a few forced carries. Back nine is still a wetlands style layout but a bit easier I think. Quite a bit of room from left to right, just have to be careful not to hit it through the ends of the fairways. Good condition, zoysia fairways so the ball will sit up nicely. Greens were full and rolled smooth, bit slow. US Open style rough so that could be cut. Played in 4 hours. Good value too and probably worth a play if in the area.

This place had litter everywhere. I don't get it, for such a nice appearing course, beer/soda cans/paper in the brush at many tee boxes and along fairways. I don't get it really. Course played fine, greens were good, staff nice. Did not allow walkers during prime time hours, and I like to walk.

The biggest things I'd change about this course is [1] the practice range needs golf bag stands [2] the range ball dispenser needs updating - balls come out dirty and [3] replace practice balls - clearly many have been damaged due to excessive use. Other than that, I love the course and the staff. Watch out for RJ, he's a real stickler as the starter! lol

Excellent golf course, will add to rotation! Greens in great shape, beautiful fairways, and challenging layout that requires shot placement.
