I took a ferry as I heard this place was good. The meat was dry, tough & the staff shrugged their shoulders with no desire to address my displeasure. I stopped pymt on my card & gave the meal to a homeless guy. Best wishes Dr.Joe C.

I’ve been to Texas a few times and naturally eaten at a few of the institutional bbq joints. Hometown Bar-B-Que is right up there and is the real deal. There’s nothing like a great Beef Rib and I’m so happy to find a pit here in NY that delivers the goods. The whole menu is chef driven cooking and nothing short of sensational. Can’t wait to go back with friends and family for a table bending feast.
They are working so hard at keeping the spirits of Red Hook up I LOVE them. They hired a good, and I mean New Orleans like good, funk band to play outside on the weekend. They put out tables, had people order food via their online system (on your own phone) and they had a bar selling to go drinks. People ordered, sat down and had a real life actually good time with masks on except when eating. The BAND was wearing masks!!! Thank you hometown for acting like people who call this their hometown and figuring out a way to do all of that. I had the Frito pie. Super good. Enough meats and sauces. The slaw was great and my friend couldn't finish her ribs so I got the last one. Excellent! I prefer the hotter sauce and the whole thing seemed like a gift of new normalcy. Thank you Hometown!
We love hanging out. Last night we visited this fine restaurant which we didn’t know before. We spent a delightful experience there with superb meal and a nice crew and a great cook. We added this fine restaurant in our phone list and we will surely visit again very soon. Highly recommended.
Easily the best BBQ in NYC. I’ve eaten at most of them, and nobody’s got the flavor of Hometown. Smoked and blackened to perfection, there’s nothing on this menu that I don’t like. If you’re into barbecue, and haven’t been here yet, stop what you’re doing, and go now.
