I rarely make reviews but I’ve been tempted to do it with Mother of Junk. I’ve absolutely never felt welcomed in this place. I find most of the staff incredibly rude, specially the older lady who constantly yells at people and excluding that one guy who offered me a tiny bucket to place the tiny merchandise I was trying to buy. I keep going because, let’s be honest, this place has very rare and amazing (overpriced) stuff you can’t find anywhere. Every time I go I buy at least one thing. But maybe it is time for them to rethink their idea of costumer service. Unless they don’t care, which seems like it.

Aptly named, this place is completely full of junk. They must attempt to - sort of - organize, or categorize the onslaught of old stuff that finds its way here. It’s an admirable effort, but one that’s doomed to fail based on the sheer quantities. It’s part museum and part junk yard. Overwhelming and underwhelming at the same time, but I’m glad it exists. You’ll find aisle after aisle of fussy old dishes, buckets of collected bric-a-brac, thousands of bizarre framed paintings, brass knick-knacks, gaudy vintage lighting, well worn unfashionable brown furniture, and more. I’ve encountered the older lady mentioned in some of these reviews, and also interacted with some nice folks here. If you’re the sort of person who enjoys a flee market, give it a whirl. You just might find a treasure.
I live nearby and have been about 4 times at the time of writing this. I’ve only had positive interactions with staff. So much cool stuff! And unlike a lot of BK thrift shops, the prices are actually good. Eclectic and cheap, just like a store like this oughta be.
This store has a great selection of vintage prints, vases, vinyl records, furniture and rugs. They have great music playing too. However, just like many reviewers here have mentioned, the old lady working here was shockingly rude and creepy. She just brusquely pushed through people in the store. When I was looking at some botanical prints, she kept staring at me with an attitude like I was a beggar and a thief. Too bad the store has some good stuff but I don’t think I’ll go back.
Really interesting place ! I love the old glass bottles, they have a huge selection. I want to go back very soon .
