GEMM International was started in 2017 by Greg and Marianne Conn as a local wine import and distribution company based on the idea of a small family business working with small family vineyards. And with our love of wine and France, Bordeaux was the natural starting point. Working with small independent vineyards is much like the craft beer industry. The small craft beer brewery is run and controlled by the owner, quality is maintained at the highest level. With the independent vineyards the owner does everything from growing the grapes to bottling and selling. He maintains complete control and ensures the highest quality product. The owners name is on the bottle, and his reputation is on the line. With our varying tastes in wine we complement each other on our wine selections to import. For added perspective we brought our daughter into the selection process to get a “younger” persons taste for the wine. Being fluent in French she has been helpful in the buying process. Offering a variety of wines for distribution is important and with our 3 different tastes, helpful we have a range of excellent quality wines available. Along with the importing and distribution of the wine we are hoping to showcase the vineyards, towns and attractions. Many of the vineyards have created apartment rentals in their Chateau’s providing an inexpensive way to visit the vineyards. Via social media and our website, we will bring you to the vineyard. When you get aquainted with the people making the wine it brings more appreciation for the wine. And with our frequent travels we will show you the highlights of the areas and what we feel are the “must see” attractions. Travelling throughout France and Italy meeting with small family vintners has shown us a new world of wines not previously available in the U.S. As stated recently in the Minneapolis Star Tribune by their wine contributor “Small vineyard wines are the new trend for 2018”.
